Do you remember the last time you received a handwritten letter? How did it make you feel? Between email, texting and Facetime, it seems we’ve forgotten the beauty of good ol’ fashioned, handwritten letter.
I’m a big advocate of handwritten letters for three reasons:
- Writing a handwritten letter is an opportunity to reflect. How often do we take the time to pause and reflect sans technology? For most, I’d guess the answer would be rarely. I love writing handwritten letters because it allows me to slow down and reflect with minimal distractions.
- It’s important to share your heart. We have some incredible people in our lives, but how often do we let them know how special and loved they are? Be the person who takes the extra step to extend your gratitude and love. Plus, sharing a bit of your heart is not only of value to the recipient, but also to the person offering the kind words. As Don Miguel Ruiz says in the book Mastery of Love, “Happiness is love coming out of you.”
- You just might make someone’s day. As you think back to the last time you received a handwritten letter, you’ll likely remember that IT. FEELS. AWESOME. So, let’s pay that feeling forward to someone you love and care about!
